Trades

SCP is now accepting trades. We believe in creating our own economy so that we aren’t reliant on capital markets and forces. Being in a creative market is different, should be different, than being in a competitive market. We want to send the message that we can thrive under hostile market conditions and practices. One way that we can do this is support each other’s practices through trade; giving up something you don’t want/ need to somebody who will put it to good use for something in return that will spark/ provoke/ generate new ideas and meaning into your work/ life.

Is it possible to produce a whole chapbook for free through trade? We’d like to find out.

Things we might hope to receive:

Paper! Any kind of paper really, but part of our creative process is working with what we have lying around, so variety is best; think not just color, but size and weight.

Books

Used bookmaking supplies: bonefolder, thread, needles, staples, scissors, pens, pencils.

Scrap collage materials.

Block printing supplies, Sumi-e ink /printmaking inks, sumi-e paper.

Make a suggestion! We’re especially open to random generosity!

One final thought, it occurred to me that, while daydreaming about a creative economy taking off, it might be possible to receive too many supplies of the same type. So, what if as a part of this initiative, if/ when that surplus happens, we work with a local schools/ daycares etc. to donate the extra materials? It seems like what a good, layered, efficient economy would do.
